Catherine Bomgaars, 88, of Rock Valley died Friday, November 26, at Valley Manor, Rock Valley.

Services were at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at First Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. Mike Van Hammersveld officiating. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery.

Mrs. Bomgaars was born February 12, 1911, near Rock Valley, the daughter of Richard and Mary (De Roos) Vande Vegte. She married Lawrence E. Van Dyke in October 1928 at Rock Valley. He died in July 1940. She worked for several people before owning and operating Kay’s Coffee Shop at Rock Valley. She then married Roy Bomgaars on December 12, 1945, at Rock Valley. He died January 9, 1966. She moved to Valley Manor on November 8, 1994.

Survivors include a son, Vernon Van Dyke of Fountain, Colorado; a sister and her husband, Frances and Ed Van’t Hul of Hull; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Van Dyke; three brothers, Oscar, Richard and Henry Vande Vegte; and a sister, Henrietta Timmerman.
