Rev. Raymond John Lubbers, 91, of Des Moines, formerly of Orange City, died Saturday in a nursing home in Des Moines.

Services were held Tuesday, September 27, at 1:30 P. M. in the First Reformed Church. Rev. Cecil Martens and Rev. Frank Snuttjer officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City.
Rev. Lubbers was born January 8, 1892 in Cedar Grove, Wisconsin. He married Lucy Vander Ploeg on July 21, 1920 at Sioux Center. She preceded him in death on August 18, 1979.

Rev. Lubbers graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, in 1914 and he taught at the Northwestern Academy in Orange City. He served as pastor at Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin from 1920-1954. He was also pastor at the Archer Reformed Church until 1960 when he retired and moved to Orange City.
Following the death of Mrs. Lubbers he resided in Pine Haven Nursing Home in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. Recently he resided at Calvin Manor Nursing Home in
Des Moines.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. George (Dorothy) Bawden of Brookfield, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Arvin (Ruth) De Cook of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dr. Irwin of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Melvin of Hudsonville, Michigan.

He is preceded in death by his wife Lucy; and a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Evangeline) Mills.
