Alroy Lubbers, 71, of Alexandria, Minnesota, died Wednesday, October 6, at St. Cloud Hospital.

Services were Friday at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria, with interment in Kinghurst Township Cemetery, Dora Lake, Minnesota.

Lubbers was born August 7, 1928, in Sioux Center, the son of Alfred and Hilda (Cleveland) Lubbers. He grew up and attended school in Sioux Center and then worked on a farm as a hired hand. He trained himself as a mechanic and began working for a private garage repairing farm machinery. He married Margle Vander Broek at Orange City on August 9, 1947. They moved in 1955 from Orange City to Rock Rapids where he worked 15 years as a mechanic for Allis Chalmers. He also served as a Volunteer fireman for the Rock Rapids Fire Department. They moved to Talmoon, Minnesota, in 1970. For eight years they owned and operated Van Clebe Resort on Big Jesse Lake. He also worked as a bus driver and mechanic for Deer River School District 18 years until his retirement in 1988.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Roy of Sauk Center, Minnesota, and Lyle of Long Prairie, Minnesota; two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Nelva) Nyenhuls of Rock Rapids and Mrs. Michael (Tammy)Adams of Dora Lake; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his parents of Sioux Center; one brother, Kenneth of Sioux City; and one sister, Mrs. Dennis (Marlene) Foxhoven of Ida Grove.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Roger.
