Mrs. Jennie Uit de Flesch, age 99, of Alton, passed away Wednesday, October 3, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

There was a funeral service on Monday, October 8, at 2:00 p.m., at the Alton Reformed Church. Pastor Gary Uit de Flesch officiated. Interment followed at Nassau Township Cemetery, near Alton. Visitation with the family present was the hour before the service at the church. Arrangements were with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
Jennie was born November 1, 1901, in the Netherlands, the daughter of Henry and Gertie Vander Grift. She came to the United States with her parents at the age of 9. They settled at Sioux Center, where she attended the Christian School.

On February 9, 1923, she married John Uit de Flesch in Worthington, Minnesota. They lived in the Worthington and Bigelow, Minnesota areas, and in Hull, Iowa. In 1931 they moved to Alton. Mr. Uit de Flesch passed away February 11, 1976, in Orange City.

Later, Mrs. Uit de Flesch moved to Orange City. In 1933, she became a reside of Pleasant Acres.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Evert and Ada Uit de Flesch, of Worthingon; and Gerrit and Shirley Uit de Flesch, of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Mary Uit de Flesch, of Renton, Washington; 35 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; a brother, John Vander Grift, of Worthington; and nephews and nieces.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Christina; a son, Henry; and an infant grandson.
