Len Trudeau, 85, of Alcester, S.D. died Monday, June 12, 2000 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Funeral service was Thursday, June 15, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Beresford, S.D. Burial was in St. John Cemetery, rural Beresford. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Wass Funeral Home, Beresford.

Len Ferdinand Trudeau was born Sept. 21, 1914 on the family farm north of Alcester to Fred and Eda (Seguin) Trudeau. As a young child, he moved with his family to Hawarden where he received his education, graduating from Hawarden High School in 1934. In 1935, the family moved back to the Alcester area where he farmed with his father and twin brother, Lee. He married Mary Waddell on Dec. 13, 1941 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Emmett. He was employed for a short time in the shipyards in Portland, Ore. and then returned to Alcester where he was a self-employed painter.

Mr. Trudeau was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Alcester; three sons; Jeffrey and his wife, Linette, Sioux Falls; Bill and his wife, Gail, Sioux Falls; and Chad and his wife, Lisa, Austin, Texas; five daughters; Renee and her husband, Orlan Jurgenson, Omaha, Neb., Linda and her husband, Doug Lund, Sioux Falls; Cynthia and her husband, Tom Tucker, El Paso, Texas; Maria and her husband, Paul Hooyer, Brandon, S.D.; and Shelle and her husband, Troy Jakobeit, Austin; 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Patterson, Camarillo, Calif.; and Mille Toft, Chatsworth, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends.
