Betty Lucille Vink (Wassenaar), age 87, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Prairie View Home in Sanborn.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. Luke Wynja officiating.
Graveside Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 27 at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Visitation will be Friday, July 26, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon. All Memorials will be given to the Sheldon Christian Grade School.

Betty Lucille Vink (Wassenaar) was born on December 10, 1925, in Boyden, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Gertie (Dekker) Vos. She lived her youth in the Boyden and Sheldon, Iowa area and attended school in Sheldon.

She was united in marriage to Dick Vink of Sheldon, Iowa on November 3, 1944 in Sheldon. They farmed east of Sheldon until 1946, when they moved to Sutherland, Iowa. In 1953, they returned to Sheldon and retired in 1974. Dick passed away on November 6, 1988.

Betty was a faithful member of First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. She was a long-time member of the Golden Hour Circle, sang in the Church Choir and sang with a women's trio. She was a diligent worker for the Sheldon Christian School Auxiliary and helped organize many school projects.

Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, playing Bridge, and growing many flowers. She loved to entertain people in her home. She was a wonderful cook and loved to bake. She was a very gracious hostess and her dining room table was a beautiful gathering place for family and friends.

Betty was a wonderful Christian wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she instilled that in her family. Her family was very important to her.

She passed on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Prairie View Home in Sanborn, Iowa. Those left to cherish her memories are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Rod Fonkert of Sheldon, IA, Donna and Gary Doppenberg of Sheldon, IA; five grandchildren, Rhonda (Mark) Weisbrod of Cylinder, IA, Randy (Sue) Fonkert of Sheldon IA, Missy Schut of Sheldon, IA, Dusty (Amy) Doppenberg of Sheldon, IA, Rebecca (Lyle) DeWild of Ankeny, IA; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Irene Ingalls of Sioux Center, IA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Wilma Vink of Sheldon, IA, Marie Vink of Clarion, IA, Jim and Vivian Strayer of Sanborn, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dick Vink, one brother, Art Vos, four sisters, Mary Vellinga, Gertrude Merley, Lena Jacobs, and Eunice Van Oort.
