R. N. WAUDBY LAID TO REST
Funeral of Eagle Township Farmer Held Sunday Afternoon
The funeral of R. N. Waudby of Eagle township whose very sudden death occurred last Thursday morning, was held Sunday afternoon from the M.E. church, the services being conducted by Rev. C. H. Young. It was largely attended by relatives and friends of the deceased and his body was laid to rest in Grace Hill cemetery. In his death the community loses a man of high ideals and splendid character, his neighbors a staunch and true friend and his family a kind and ever considerate husband and father.
Robert Norton Waudby was born in Dubuque May 15, 1860, where he resided until nine years of age when he moved with his parents to Butler county, Iowa, and remained there until he reached the age of 22 when he came to Sioux county and has since made his home here.
In 1893 he was united in marriage with Elena Spencer, but seven years later she answered the Master's call. Three children were born to this union but two of them passed away the same year as their mother. On May 5, 1911, he married Mrs. Nanna Thompson, who with his daughter, Miss Artie, and stepdaughter, Miss Lola, are left to mourn his loss. He also leaves one brother, T. P. Waudby of Arlington, Iowa, and three sisters, Mrs. Fred Evans of Hawarden, and Mrs. J. W. Hill and Miss Addie Waudby of Langdon, Alberta, Canada.
Several years ago he became a member of the Methodist church and has been one of its staunchest members, ever living an upright Christian life.
Out of town relatives who were in attendance at the funeral were T. P. Waudby of Aplington, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Hill and son and Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Rouse of Ayrshire, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Noahr of Craig.

Posters Note: The Iowa WPA Grave records show Mr. Waudby's birth date as May 15, 1862 but the obituary clearly says 1860. According to the 1885 Iowa Census, Robert was the son of Orrey and Robert Waudby. According to the senior Robert's obituary on this site, Orrey's (or Ora's) maiden name was Norton.
