From the Thursday, December 19, 1985 Hawarden Independent:

Lewis A. Goodmanson, 78, of Ireton, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1985, in a Sioux City Hospital.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton. The Rev. Paul Sieveking officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under direction of Dow Funeral Home, Ireton.

Pallbearers were Edward Kading, Vernon Eilts, Lawrence Eilts, Gerald Juffer, Edwin Ten Napel and Melvin Torwelle.

Mr. Goodmanson was born June 15, 1907, in Craig and moved to Ireton in 1918. He married Helen Jones March 13,1947, at Luverne, MN. He operated the Goodmanson Bottle Gas and Appliance Store and also did harness repair. He operated the Pastime Tavern in Ireton for 19 1/2 years, retiring in 1969.

Mr. Goodmanson was a veteran of World War II and was an active member of the Ireton American Legion Post, He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry of Ireton and Alan of Fremont, NE, and two grandchildren.

Poster's note: According to his parents' obituaries on this site, Lewis (known as "Lewie" in Ireton) was the son of Theresa (Ehlers) and Bert T. Goodmanson.
