Peter Zwaan, 81, of Doon, died Tuesday, Dec. 10,1985, in a hospital in Rock Valley.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, in the Christian Reformed Church in Doon. Rev. Peter Van Drunen and Rev. Henry Vander Kam officiated. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Doon, under direction of Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Mr. Zwaan was born Sept. 6, 1904, in The Netherlands. He came to the United States and to the Leota, MN, area in June 1917, with his family. He later moved near Doon where he farmed with his family. On Feb. 11, 1932, he married Nellie Willemstien in Doon. He owned and operated his own trucking business, retiring in 1968. He served as custodian of the Christian Reformed Church for 14 years. The couple moved recently to Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley.

Mr. Zwaan was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Doon.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Art (Grace) Postmus of Hudsonville, MI; a brother, Nick of Luverne, MN; four sisters, Mrs. Gert Van Ketel and Mrs. John (Grace) Bouma, both of Doon, Mrs. Lou (Tillie) Holtrop of Hawarden and Mrs. Bill (Hilda) Roozeboom of Sioux Falls, SD, and four grandchildren.

Poster's note: According to the 1925 Iowa census, Peter was the son of Gertie (Brouwer) and Henry Zwaan.
