Rites Held For Leo Comstock

Resident of Hawarden More Than Forty Years Dies in Hospital After Three-Months Illness

Funeral services for Leo Comstock of Sioux City, formerly of Hawarden, who died in a Sioux City hospital Monday night, December 30, were held at the Barnard Funeral home and at the Methodist church in Hawarden last Thursday afternoon. Rev. Robert Chapler of Sergeant Bluff, assisted by Rev. Milton Schaper, conducted the services. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery.

Leo Leslie Comstock was born January 18, 1895, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, and came to Hawarden with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Comstock, when a young boy. Ho attended school here and was united in marriage with Alma McGloghlon

About three years ago he moved to Sioux City with his family. After moving to Sioux City he was employed by the Sioux Soya company. He had been confined to a hospital for three months preceding his death.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Max of Littleton, Colo., and Frank of Sioux City; seven daughters, Mrs. Blanche Johnston of Tujana, Calif., Mrs. Kathryn Pollock of Arnolds Park, Mrs. Grace Christiansen of Irene, S. D., and Jo Ann, Sharen, Karen and Susan, of Sioux City; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Osterday of Dell Rapids. S. D., Mrs. Thelma Younie of Manilla, Iowa, and Mrs. Pauline Harris of Van Nuys Calif., and two brothers, Edwin of Sioux City and Ted of Van Nuys, Calif.

Relatives who came to Hawarden for the funeral included the members of his family who live in Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Christiansen of Irene, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pollock and Sandra of Arnolds Park, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Osterday of Dell Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Younie of Manilla, H. R. Christiansen of Spencer, Iowa, and Will Whittington of Miller. S. D.

Poster's note: According to the 1925 Iowa census, Leo Comstock was the son of Ida M. (Moore) and Frank E. Comstock.
