From the Thursday, June 29, 1911 Hawarden Independent:

DEATH ANGEL'S SUMMONS
Little Willard Fry Is Suddenly Called by God's Messengers

Willard Gilmore Fry was born at Mission Hill, S. D., on the 29th of February, 1904, and died in Hawarden Saturday evening, June 24th.

All that medical skill and tender nursing could do would not save the little life attacked by tetanus and after an illness of forty-eight hours the angel of death bore the brave spirit back to heaven. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Monday afternoon, Rev. Nissen speaking most appropriate words of comfort to the stricken family. After the services the little loved form was laid to rest in Grace Hill cemetery.

In the few months that his parents have lived in this place Willard won the friendship of all whom he came in contact He was a general favorite in the public schools and was a constant attendant at his Sabbath school. It was in keeping with his own request that he was admitted to the membership of the church several months ago. For a child of seven he had a remarkable insight into things which he thought were right or wrong and had a way of expressing his thoughts on these subjects in language that clings to everyone who heard him. Though his stay on earth was brief, the general sentiment of those who knew him is that the good influence radiated from his little life might well be coveted by one of many years.

Poster's note: In the 1910 census, the Fry family was living in Pipestone County, Minnesota and his parents were listed as G.G. and Harriet Fry. This is consistent with a family tree on ancestry.com, that gives their names as Gilmore Grant Fry and Harriet Angenett Fry nee Lawrence.
