MRS. FRED ROHLFS, 72, OF CRAIG EXPIRES
RITES SET THURSDAY

Mrs. Fred H. (Lizzie) Rohlfs, 72, Craig, died Monday at Floyd Valley hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Rohlfs had been a resident of Brentwood Good Samaritan home and had been hospitalized for three weeks.

Lizzie Popken was born April 24, 1895, in Germany, the daughter of Friedrich H. and Diedrich Katherine (Johnson) Popken. She came to the United States as a child, settling in Plymouth county.

Her marriage to Mr. Rohlfs took place March 12, 1914, in Preston township, rural Akron.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Craig's St. John Lutheran church. Rev. Ernest Christensen will officiate and burial will be in St. John cemetery, Craig, under direction of the Mauer funeral home in Le Mars.

Survivors are five sons, Norman, Richard and Gene, all of Craig, Raymond of Ireton and Robert of Sacramento; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Dirks of Elk Point, Mrs. Elmer (Leona) Herzberg of Merrill and Mrs. Kenneth (Joyce) Borchers, Sedan, Kan.; 22 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

She is also survived by seven brothers, Dick, Chatsworth; Otto, Luverne; John, Akron; George, Wilmington, Del.; Fred, Akron; Elmer, Hudson and William, Le Mars; Five sisters, Mrs. Theresa Rohlfs, Randolph, Neb.; Mrs. Frieda Gillum in South Dakota; Mrs. Katherine Bloomquist, McLean, Neb.; Mrs. Tillie Lamoureux in Akron and Mrs. Marie Dirks, Le Mars.

Mrs. Rohlfs was a member of St. John Lutheran church, Craig.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two sons, Leo and Vernon.
