Leonard Roy Frescoln, 90, passed away Dec. 11, 1977 at 11:06 am at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield, Iowa after a short illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 1:30pm in the Batavia United Methodist Church, with the Rev. William Huffman officiating. Burial was in the Batavia Cemetery. Masonic services were held on Monday evening at the Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia.
Roy Frescoln was born Dec. 10, 1887 near Batavia in a log house, the son of Charles and Mary Harrison Frescoln. He married Mildred Garthwaite of Hawarden on April 22, 1948. She preceded him in death on June 29, 1976.
Roy farmed in the Batavia area prior to entering the insurance business in 1929. He had lived in Hawarden since 1948 and had moved to Fairfield in July of this year. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a member of the Masons for 69 years, White Shrine Order of the Eastern Star and Kaaba Shrine.
He is survived by a step daughter, Mrs. Don Dowdey of Hawarden, three brothers, Ray, Charles and Bruce, all of Batavia, two step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
