From the November 1, 1960 Sioux City Journal:

ALVIN O. JOHNSON

Funeral services for Alvin O. Johnson, 51, 1124 22d street, a warehouseman for the National Tea Co., who died Sunday at a hospital, will be at 2 p. m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran church. Rev. S. W. Holstein will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial park cemetery under direction of the Nelson-Berger north side funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Elmer Johnson, Lyle Pratt, Wallace Brabander, Dale Stak, Paul Underwood and Clarence Meier.

Mr. Johnson was born September 24, 1909 at Ireton, Ia., and came to Sioux City following service in World War 2. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church and driver's local 383, International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He married Olga Peters on March 12, 1949, in Sioux City.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Kathleen Kay at home; a brother, Raymond of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Melvin Gearke of LeMars, Ia., and Mrs. Walter Peters of Ireton, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Johnson of Ireton.

Poster's note: Obituaries in other papers confirm that Alvin O. Johnson died Sunday, October 30, 1960. He was the son of Caroline ("Lena") (Steinfadt) and Harry B. Johnson. (P. 413, "Ireton, A Proud Heritage, 1882-1982).
