Life's end

RITES SET FRIDAY FOR JESS PEEBLES

Funeral services for Jess Peebles, 80, lifelong Plymouth county resident, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John American Lutheran church at Craig. Rev. Ernest Christensen Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ireton. A prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home.

Mr. Peebles died accidentally as the result of carbon monoxide poisoning as he attempted to leave the garage at his home Monday night. Dr. Sherman Lindell said death was due to the poisoning.

He was found at 11 p.m. by his daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Smith with whom he had made his home the last five years. Mrs. Smith said her father was inside the garage near the small door.

He was born Sept. 21, 1886, at Ireton. His marriage to Maude Phillips took place June 6, 1906, at Ireton. She preceded him in death in 1962.

Mr. Peebles was a retired farmer.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Smith of Le Mars and Mrs. Donald Elliott of Craig; two sons, Glen of Merrill and Ralph of Chandler, Ariz; nine granchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Alma Marienau of Le Mars and Mrs. Ellen Reid of West Covina, Calif.
