From the Thursday, March 14, 1963 Hawarden Independent:

Mrs. Edgar Satterlee (nee Etta Shimer), 86, died March 6 at Long Beach, Calif. Funeral services were held March 8. Mrs. Satterlee was reared in the Ireton vicinity and lived in Ireton where Mr. Satterlee was a rural mail carrier for a number of years before moving to California. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter who died in infancy. She is survived by a son, Glenn of Minneapolis, a grandchild and one sister in California.

Poster's note: Esther (or Ester) (Etta) Shimer was the daughter of Will Shimer (mother probably Lydia). According to the 1895 Iowa census and other census information, she was born in Black Hawk County, Iowa about 1876 or 1877. She married Edgar Satterlee October 14, 1896 according to an article in the January 28, 1938, Hawarden Independent.
