Paul W. Van Oort, 88 years of age, Sioux City, died Monday, February 2, at a Sioux City hospital after being stricken while shoveling snow.

Mr. Van Oort was born December 26, 1892 north of Orange City in Sioux County, the son of Wein Van Oort and Jennie Lagendyk.He married Matilda Beaubien in Sioux City, August 31, 1935.

Preceding him in death were his wife on September 19, 1976, four brothers and a sister.

He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Peter (Hattie) Zevenbergen, Sr., Rock Valley, Mrs. Frank (Artie) Bruyn, Hospers, Mrs. Tom (Dena)Geselschap, Cherokee and Mrs. Frank (Jennie) Vanderstoep, Homeland, California; also many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Van Oort was a veteran of World War I.He worked as an accountant for the Toy National Bank for many years before his retirement.

Services were held Thursday February 5, at the Larkin Northside Funeral Home. The Rev. Dwight Walker, pastor of Moorehead Christian Church officiated. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery.
