Peter Van Oort, 89, of Orange City died suddenly Monday in the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 A. M. Friday in the First Reformed Church. The Rev. Marlin Vander Wilt will officiate. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery at Sheldon under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City

Mr. Van Oort was born September 28, 1897 in Newkirk. He married Sadie Douma August 14, 1928 in Sheldon. She died September 16, 1982. He owned and operated an implement dealership at Hull for 20 years, retiring in 1952. Prior to moving to Orange City in 1982, he had lived in Sheldon.
Mr. Van Oort was a member of First Reformed Church.

Survivors include a son, Jacob of LeMars; two sisters, Mrs. Nick (Coba) Wielenga and Mrs. Adrain (Jennie) Vander Wilt, both of Orange City and two grandchildren, Kyle and Kari.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sadie; a daughter, Wilene Jane; a brother, John; and two sisters, Effie Van Oort and Mrs. Reka Fikse.
