Mrs. Antoinette W. Van Oort age 95, of Orange City died Saturday Jan 5, 1991 at the Prairie View Retirement home in Sanborn. Funeral services were held Tuesday Jan 8, 1991 at the American Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Stanley Vander Weide officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City

Antoinette Wilhelmina was born Apr. 6, 1895 at Orange City, The daughter of William Rozeboom and Antoineete (Vander Gijp) Rozeboom . She was raised at Orange City where she graduated from the high school. She then attended a normal training school in Hawarden. For the next seven years she was a teacher in county schools around Orange City.

On Sep. 16, 1920 she married Albert Van Oort at Carmel. They made their home in Orange City. During World War II, Mrs. Van Oort was a waitress in an Orange City café. She later was employed part time at the Orang City Public Library. Mr. Van Oort died Apr. 17, 1966 at Orange City.

On Jan. 2, 1989 Mrs. Van Oort became a resident of Prairie View Retirement Home. She held the longest continuous membership at the American Reformed Church in Orange City where she had been active in the Women’s organization. She was a lifetime member of the American legion Auxiliary and a member of the Federated Women’s Club for over 40 years, both in Orange City.

Survivors include her four children, Ruth A. and her husband Luke Luymes of Sioux Falls, S.D. ; Albert W and his wife Shirley of Glendale, AZ., Marna J. and her husband Donald Hakeman of Sanborn, and Jay W. and his wife Charlene of Rochester, MN., 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister Catherine Vander Berg of Orange City and a brother, Dr. Lloyd Rozeboom of Hampstead, MD.
In addition to her husband in death by three sisters and four brothers
