Vernon Henry Tiedeman, 70, of Hull, died Thursday, May 19, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Funeral services were on Monday, May 23, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Hull, with the Rev. Arlo “Pete” Peterson officiating. Burial was at St. Paul Cemetery.

Tiedeman was born on September 30, 1923, at Hull, the son of Henry and Carrie (Lutjen) Tiedeman. He was a lifetime resident of the Hull area.

On December 8, 1944, he married Winnifred Westra at Hull. They farmed in the Hull area. She died in Sioux Center on May 9, 1979.In June of 1991, he moved into Hull and, on February 10 of this year, he became a resident of Pleasant Acres.

Tiedeman was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he had served on the church council and the cemetery board of directors. He also belonged to the church’s Men’s Brotherhood and the dart ball team. In earlier years, he had been a member of the board of directors of the Farmers Cooperative Oil Association.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Robert and Gladys Tiedeman of Sibley; two daughters and their husbands, Margean and Alan Boughey, of Sioux Center; and Charlynn and Greg Haubrich, of Hull; a daughter-in-law and her husband, Alvina and Don Letcher, of Loveland, Colorado; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Matilda Sohl, of Hull; and a brother, Edward Tiedeman, of Sibley.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Denney; three brothers, Alfred, William and Lawrence; and a sister, Lillian Goeringer.
