SHELDON---Hubert Adolf Herman Tiedeman , 85 of Sheldon , died Monday, Nov 22, at Northwest Iowa Health Center Senior Care in Sheldon. Services were Friday Nov, 26 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Hull with the Rev. John Riggle officiating. Burial with military honors by William Monster Post 272 American Legion in Boyden was at the church cemetery, under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Hubert was the son of John and Emma (Lutjens) Tiedeman, was born Jan. 7, 1919, in Hull. He was raised on the family farm north of Hull and was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He entered the U.S Army on Jul. 8, 1941. He served in the South Pacific for three years during World War II. He was a member of the field artillery and saw action in the East Indies, Northern Solomon, New Guinea and Eastern Mandates. He received decoration and citations. The Purple Heart, Pacific Campaign, American Defense Services Ribbon with one Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Medal for wounds received in action during the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was discharged in 1945

He married Margaret Wessels on June 26, 1946, at First Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN. They farmed for 30 years in the Hull area. They retired from farming and moved into Sheldon on Feb. 7, 1973. He was a lifelong member of St Paul Lutheran Church in rural Hull and a member of William Monster Post 272 American Legion in Boyden.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Tiedeman of Sheldon; two sons, Roger and Linda Tiedeman of Hull and Doug and Audrey Tiedeman of De Soto, KS; a daughter Debra and Dennis Potts of Denison; 15 grandchildren; great grandchildren and three sisters, Bertha Anderson of Rock Valley, Lori Thompson of Rock Rapids and Dorothy McCormack of Rock Rapids.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Berend, Walter and Ferdinand Tiedeman; and numerous brother-in-law and sister- in- laws
