Martin Moeller Dies at Age 92

Martin Moeller, 92, one of Ireton's oldest residents, died at the Hawarden hospital early Tuesday morning.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Ireton with burial at St. Paul's cemetery. Rev. Paul Friedrich will officiate. Mrs. Vernon Eilts will be at the organ and will accompany the vocalists, Yvonne Van Wyhe and Janice Torwelle.

Pallbearers will include Albert Holtdorf, Fred Schuette, Eldo Degen, Ora Grau, Harold Smith and Alfred Hemmingson.

Mr. Moeller was born July 20, 1865, at Flensburg, Germany. He came to America in 1882 at the age of 17 and settled at Luzerne, Ia.

In 1885 he went to Ireton where he married Tena Zimmerman, April 2, 1891. To this union were born four children, three boys and a girl. Mrs. Moeller died March 4, 1910.

He married Lizzie Weber in 1920 and moved into Ireton. Mr. Moeller had spent most of his life farming in the Ireton vicinity.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Pete and Richard of Hawarden and John of Ireton; a daughter, Mrs. Ed C. Johnson of Ireton; a step-daughter, Mrs. George Holtdorf of Ireton; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Poster's note: Date of death was December 17, 1957. In the 1925 Iowa census, Mr. Moeller gave his parents' names as Christine Thompson and Peter Moeller. His second wife was nee Lizzie Byer before she married Julius Weber who died in 1914.
