Leonard “Speck” Van Muyden, 73, of Hawarden, died Thursday, October 2, at Lake Benton, Minnesota.

Services were at 1:30 P. M. Monday in the Dow Funeral Home at Hawarden. The Rev. Robert Hanson officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Van Muyden was born June 18, 1907, in Sioux County, near Sioux Center. He lived in the Hawarden area most of his life. He married Elizabeth Anderson September 13, 1939, at Dakota City. She died August of 1962. He worked as a mechanic, retiring in 1976.

Survivors include three sons, Roger of Lake Benton, Leonard O. of Hawarden, and Jerry of Las Vegas, Nevada and 11 grandchildren.
