Peter Van Muyen, aged Hawarden resident, died at his home in this city Sunday. Brights disease being the cause of his death. He was born on August 8, 1866, in Holland and came to America 38 years ago. He lived at Sioux Center for 10 years and then came to this vicinity where he farmed until his health failed and he moved to town in 1938.

He was united in marriage to Grace Van Pol in 1891. To this union 10 children were born, three of whom preceded him in death. The surviving children are Niel Van Muyden of Sioux Center; Mrs. Dora Velthoer, Hawarden; Mrs. Lambert Van Wyhe, Ireton; Mrs. Bonnie Okkema and Mrs. Albert Vander Sluis of Chicago; Miss Marie Van Muyden and Leonard Van Muyden of Hawarden.

The remains were taken to Sioux Center Wednesday and funeral services were held from the Old Dutch Reformed Church. Interment was in the Sioux Center Cemetery.
