From the July 10, 1969 Hawarden Independent:

HOLD SERVICES FOR ADOLPH OPDAHL THURSDAY

Funeral services for Adolph John Opdahl, 75, Fulda, Minnesota, were held July 3 at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Fulda with Rev. A. J. Kretzchmar officiating.

Mr. Opdahl was born November 16, 1893, at Polk County. He married Haldora Barnes on January I, 1926, at Huxley. He farmed near Ireton until 1944 when he then worked for a sheet metal firm at Estherville. In 1947 he moved to Fulda where he owned a sheet metal business. He served in World War I and was preceded In death by his wife.

Survivors include a son, George, of Avoca, Minnesota; three daughters, Mrs.Bill Meyer of Worthington, Minnesota, Mrs. Elmer Hart, Jr. of Chandler, Minnesota, and Mrs. Gunars Havland of Bigelow, Minnesota; a sister, Mrs. Anna Durling of Jackson, Minnesota; four half-brothers, Arthur, Earling and Norman of Ireton and Lorentz of Hawarden; three half-sisters, Mrs. George (Florence) Johnson and Mrs. Mildred Holzmueller of Hawarden and Mrs. Carl (Clara) Valin of Des Moines.

Poster's note: Ireton, A Proud History, 1882-1982 gives Adolph's parents as Helen (Richardson) and Lorentz Kristian Opdal (Opdahl). His stepmother was Julia nee Thompson. Adolph served in the U.S. Navy during World War I.
