Tunis Vander Lee, 91, Sheldon, died Saturday, Feb. 6, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.

Services were Monday, Feb. 8, at Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon, with Rev. David Loveall officiating. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Tunis Vander Lee, son of John and Antonia (Burggraaf)Vander Lee, was born Dec. 24, 1907, in Bunnik, the Netherlands. He came to the United States with his family in 1914, and settled in the Alton are. He married Gertrude Van Roekel on Feb. 3, 1932, in Boyden. They farmed near Boyden for a couple years before moving to a farm near Lake Wilson, MN, where they lived 10 years. They returned to Iowa and farmed in the Sheldon area for many years until his retirement. Mrs. Vander Lee died April 5, 1991, in Sheldon. He had been a resident of Oak Park Care Center for the last year and a half.

He was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon.

Survivors include a daughter, Glenda and Don Riemersma of Sheldon; two sons, Norman and Ruby Vander Lee of Rock Rapids; and Merlyn and Elaine Vander Lee of Sheldon; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Vander Lee of Melvin; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sophia Dykhuizen of Sheldon.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Myron; a grandson, Paul; his parents; a brother and a sister.
