Alice Van Middendorp, 89, of Rock Valley died Monday, October 27, 2003, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Services will be 2 P. M. Friday at Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock Valley, with the Rev. G. M. de Leeuw officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6:30 to 8 P. M. today at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Alice was born October 5, 1914, near Perkins, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Alice (Vanden Berg) Eppinga. She helped on the family farm before she married.

She married Teunis Van Middendorp on March 27, 1936, in Rock Valley.The couple farmed near Alvord, Iowa, before farming northeast of Doon, Iowa. They retired to Rock Valley in 1983. Teunis died October 7, 2001.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, John T. and LaVonne Van Middendorp of Everson, Washington, and Marvin and Judy Van Middendorp of Rock Rapids, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, JoAnn and Egbert Van Beek of Sioux Center, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Teunis; three brothers, Sam, Ben and Dick Eppinga; and a sister, Johanna Groeneweg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Netherlands Reformed Church Mission.
