Evelyn Van Middendorp, age 67, of Bakersfield, California, passed away Sunday May 16, 2004, after her year-long battle with cancer. Celebration of her life will be held Thursday, May 19, in Bakersfield. Graveside services will follow in Artesia, California. Evelyn was born to John and Johanna Proost on August 23, 1938 in Lyon County, Iowa. She was married to Marion Middendorp on June 24, 1959.

Survivors include her sons, Richard Van Middendorp and Troy Van Middendorp, Bakersfield; her sisters, Catherine Fikse, Hills, Minnesota, Cheryl Pennington, Bakersfield, and Joan Bowman, Artesia, California; brother, Verlyn (Jay) Proost of Twin Falls, Idaho; and also a sister-in-law, Jean Proost of Artesia, California.
