Martin Twillman Dies at Ireton At the Age of 67

Ireton, Iowa - Martin Twillman, 37, a long-time resident of Ireton, died last Friday after an illness of but one day.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon in the R. Onken home and at St. Paul's Lutheran church at 2, with Rev. Hauser of St. John's Lutheran church officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery under the direction of the Satterlee Funeral home.

The church choir sang My Jesus, I Love Thee. Pallbearers were Hollis Karr, Clarence Holtdorf, Albert Holtdorf, Carl Braaks, John Vlotho and Louis Kluter.

Mr. Twillman was born January 22,1886, at Bremen, Germany and came to America with his parents at the age of 2. They located on a farm near Ireton where he grew up. In 1912 he moved onto a farm just south of Ireton. For the past six years his brothers, Henry and George, lived with him.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church in Ireton.

Survivors are three brothers, Henry, George and Adolph of Ireton and three sisters, Mrs. R. Onken of Ireton and Mrs. Freida Dauberman and Mrs. Martha Luschen of Hawarden. A brother, William, died in 1951.

Poster's note: Martin was the son of Gesina (Schlake) and Luder Twillman. (Luder was a brother to my great-great-grandmother Matilda Twillman Kluter).
