VANOMMEREN, BAKKER, BRUNSTING

Tony J. Van Ommeren, 84, of Sheldon, died Friday, October 13, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center, Sheldon.

Services were Tuesday, October 17, at First Reformed Church here with De. Warren Hietbrink officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sheldon.

Mr. Van Ommeren, son of Anthony and Marie (Baker) Van Ommeren, was born May 21, 1905, at Carmel. He married Harriet Brunsting December 23, 1925, in Hull. They moved to Sheldon in 1934. He was employed as a bread route salesman, auto mechanic and was custodian at the Northwest Iowa Health Center until he retired in 1967. He was a member of the First Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Alma (Mrs. Thelmar) Boone, Betty (Mrs. Nelson) Vink, Gleora (Mrs. Marvin) DeBruin, all of Sheldon; two sons, Tony of Holland, Missouri, and Myron of Sheldon; a brother, Peter of Maurice; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
