The following obituary is from an unidentified newspaper (possibly the Sioux City Journal). There is a similar obituary in the March 15, 2001 Hawarden Independent but it does not the grandchildrens' names as found here.

Dorothy M. Sotterman

Dorothy Marie Sotterman, 85, of Hawarden, died Monday, March 5, 2001 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Dean Shelly and his wife, Donna, officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Visitation will begin at noon today with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mrs. Sotterman was born Dec. 3,1915 in Newark, Ohio to Raymond and Alta (Green) Burchett. She grew up in Newark and Fairmont, W. Va., before moving to Streator, Ill.

She married Herbert Carl Sotterman on Feb. 7,1943 in Streator. They retired to Florida in Jan. 1968, where they lived for 30 years. They moved to Hawarden in June of 1998. Her husband died Dec. 2,1999.

Survivors include two daughters, Janis Clark of Winter Park, Fla., and Karin and her husband Bob Borchers of Hawarden; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Ashley and Travis Clark, Dawn Clayberg, and Stacy and Melanie Borchers; nine great-grandchildren; and three nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant sister and a brother.
