Marvin Sorlie Dies at Age 41 in Hospital

Marvin Sorlie, 41, who resided in Union county about eight miles southwest of Hawarden, died last Thursday in the Hawarden hospital.

Mr. Sorlie had been in poor health for some time and was in the Hawarden hospital a number of weeks and then returned home. He again entered the hospital on Tuesday of last week.

Funeral services were held at the Union Creek Lutheran, church in Union county at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon with Rev. David Roy officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Private services were held Sunday evening at the Nilson Funeral Home in Alcester.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Sorlie of Hudson, he was born September 12, 1912, on a farm near Fairview, S. D. In his early years he moved with his parents onto a farm six miles west of Hudson where he grew to manhood. He farmed in partnership with his father until 1942.

He married Clara Jacobs of the Big Springs vicinity January 20, 1942. They lived on a farm near Hudson until 1945 when they purchased the farm known as the Will Jacobs farm, which was his home from then on.

He was baptized in the Bethany Lutheran church at Fairview and was confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran church near Hudson in 1926.

He is survived by the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Leo Larson; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Sorlie of Hudson; a brother, James of Hudson and four sisters, Mrs. Esther Vande More, Mrs. Ruth Christopherson, Mrs. Gladys Roskeland and Mrs. Pearl Roskeland, all of Hudson.
