Ronald Soland Age 40

Ronald Soland, 40, former resident of Rock Valley-rural Sioux Center, died at his home in Minneapolis, MN on Tuesday, December 27; 2005.

Ron is survived by his parents. Pastor Eugene and Wanda Soland of 6927 Country Elm, San Antonio, TX 78240-4443 and Rio Hondo, Texas as well as his sister, Brenda Menadelook of Home, Alaska and brother, Robert of Mantorville, MN. Ron attended Rock Valley Elementary school during the years his father served the two-point parish of Our Savior's Lutheran in Rock Valley and Peace Lutheran, rural Sioux Center in the 70's.

Ronald was bora Nov. 16, 1965 in Cudahy, WI, near Milwaukee. He graduated from Luther College in 1988 and was an announcer for KDEC and KWLC. He was an accountant at the Shalom nursing centers and had worked at Public Radio International in Minneapolis. He had also been an accountant at the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha as well as the Project Aids of Nebraska.

Because of his political connections he was instrumental in bringing family members of immigrants to the United States who otherwise would have remained separated.

He was active in many theatre companies throughout his life. He played Romeo in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet as well as acting in several other dramas.

A memorial service was held at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church in Decorah, Iowa on Friday, December 30 at 11:00 a.m. He had
