John C. Van Oosbree, 73, of Grand Island, Nebraska, died Sunday, December 5, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Memorial services were Wednesday at 10:30 A. M. at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island with the Rev. Dr. C. Roger Nelson officiating.
Burial was in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Van Oosbree was born on May 11, 1926, to John C. and Marie (Van Velzen) Van Oosbree in Sioux Center. He grew up in Sioux Center, receiving his education there and graduating in 1944. He entered the U. S. Army on October 30, 1944, and was honorably discharged October 31, 1948. He was married to Norma J. Goodmanson on April 27, 1956, in Ireton. The couple moved to Grand Island, where they remained. He worked for Northwestern Bell as a telephone lineman.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, American Legion 40/8 Post #53, VFW, Communication Workers of America7401, PER of BPO-Elks, Platt Deutsche Society and Liederkranz. He was a past deacon elder trustee and Sunday school secretary of First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lori and Steve Glinschinski of Shoreview, Minnesota, and Stacy and Eric Eidler of Portland, Oregan; two brothers, Christian Van Oosbree of Emmetsburg and Cornelius “Cork” Van Oosbree of Hometown, Illinois; two sisters, Johanna Gortsema of Grangeville, Idaho, and Marie Boogerd of Rock Valley; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tony Van Oosbree; and a sister, Anna Stoub.
