Anton Van Oosbree, 37, former Sioux Center resident, son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Oosbree of this city, was fatally injured Thursday while working with an Iowa Public Service Company crew at an electric substation in Cherokee. He had lived in Storm Lake since 1948.

Funeral services were held at 2 P. M. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Storm Lake, with the Rev. William Peters officiating and burial was made at Storm Lake under the direction of the Hughes-Nelson Funeral Home.

Mr. Van Oosbree was standing on a steel girder about 15 feet above the floor with other crew members when he apparently came in contact with a 34,000-volt circuit. The shock knocked him to the floor, where fellow workers attempted artificial respiration. He was pronounced dead after being rushed to a Cherokee Hospital.

Mr. Van Oosbree had been an IPS employee in the Cherokee area since 1948. The crew was installing new equipment in the Cherokee station Thursday, according to Al Larsen, IPS manager at Cherokee.

Mr. Van Oosbree was born May 22, 1927, at Sioux Center, Iowa, and moved to Storm Lake in 1948. He married the former Charlene Nelson of Storm Lake on December 30, 1950, at Yuma, Arizona.

He served with the armed forces from 1945 to 1946, and re-enlisted in the service from 1950 to 1952. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and past master of Jewell Lodge 309, AF & AM.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, David and Jon, and a daughter, Tina, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Van Oosbree of Sioux Center; three sisters, Mrs. James Boogerd of Rock Valley, Iowa, Mrs. William Stoub of Evergreen Park, Illinois, and Mrs. Charles Gortsema of Grangeville, Idaho, and three brothers, Chris of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Cornelius of Hometown, Illinois, and John C. Jr. of Grand Island, Nebraska.
