Sioux Center News March 19, 1959

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1pm at the home and at 1:30pm from the First Reformed Church for Mrs. Grace (Ray) Van Deest, 64, life-long resident of Sioux Center and vicinity, who died Thursday at the Sioux Center Community Hospital after a brief confinement with a heart ailment.

The Rev. Marion Klaaren officiated and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of Co-operative Funeral Service. The Rev. A. Haverkamp of Pella assisted with services at church and the Rev. G. Bosch of Rock Rapids assisted with the service at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Van Deest, nee Grace Bos, was born January 6, 1895, near Sioux Center. She was married to Ray Van Deest April 1, 1920, and to this union one daughter was born.

Surviving are the widower; the daughter, Mrs. James Irwin of Detroit, Mich.; one brother, Richard Bos, of Inwood; four sisters, Mrs. Martha Vande Berg, Mrs. Carrie Van Regenmorter, Mrs. Herman Wissink and Mrs. Dick Groen, all of Sioux Center; and one grandson.

Her parents and two sisters, Jacoba and Mrs. Dick Van Bree, preceded her in death.

The deceased was an active member of the Central Reformed Church and the local Women's club.

She was president of the Ladies' Aid of Central Church and treasurer of Iota Sigma.
