From the December 27, 1934 Sioux Center News:

Nenl Douma passed away at his home in Doon Saturday morning at 9:30 after a serious illness of only a few days.

Deceased was born in Turner County, So. Dak., and was thirty-five years old at the time of his death. He spent most of his life in the vicinity of Hull. On Feb. 14, 1924 he was married to Jennie Koele, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Koele of Hull. To this union, three children were born, the eldest passed away when almost one and one-half years old.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and two children, Kenneth and Dorothy. Also his mother, Mrs. Ida Douma of Hull. Four brothers: John of Hull, Jake of Sanborn, Gossen of Carmel and Oscar of Carnes. Four sisters: Mrs. O. De Jony of Carnes, Mrs. L. T. Brunsting and Mrs. C. Heymans of Hull, Mrs. H. Blonk of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday from the First Ref. Church at Doon, the church of which the deceased was a member.

Services were also held at the First Ref. Church at Hull, Rev. D. Lubbers and Rev. G. H. Douwstra officiating. Burial was made in Hope cemetery.
