John DeBondt, 58, of Ocheyedan died Monday in the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, after a long illness.

Services will be at 10 A. M. Thursday in the Ocheyedan Christian Reformed Church. The Rev. Marvin Van Donselaar will officiate. Burial will be in Ocheyedan Township Cemetery.

Mr. DeBondt was born July 8, 1926, at Hull. He lived his youth and attended school in Sioux County. He served in the U. S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and in the Army Reserve until 1957. He married Elizabeth Vander Veen February 24, 1953, at Ocheyedan. They lived at Hull where he was a carpenter until 1956 when they moved to rural Ocheyedan where they farmed.He was a member of the Ocheyedan Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Greg (Linda Faye) Hanson of Sioux City, Mrs. Kim (Debra Kae) Thomas of Ocheyedan and Ms Sandra Ranee DeBondt of Loveland, Colorado; two sons, Jeffrey John of Sioux Falls and Bradley Alan of Ocheyedan; his mother, Mrs. Jennie DeBondt of Ocheyedan; one brother, Bernard of Steen, Minnesota; two sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Henrietta) Bonestroo of Boyden and Marie DeBondt of Sioux Center and eight grandchildren.
