From the Sioux Center News, April 5, 1956:

Gossen Douma

Funeral services for Gossen Douma, who passed away Wednesday, March 28, were held Saturday, March 31, at 1:00 at the home and at 1:30 at the Central Reformed church with Rev. M. Klaaren officiating. Burial was in the Community cemetery with Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Arnold Hulshof, Vernon Van Ommeran, Kenneth Douma, Thomas De Jong, Edgar Vermeer, and John Maassen.

Mr. Gossen Douma passed away suddenly Wednesday afternoon at the age of 55 years, one month, and 14 days.

Mr. Douma was united in marriage to Everdena Van Ommeren who preceded him in death on May 14, 1940 and to this union one son was born, George who now survives.

On Dec. 15, 1941, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Mulder and they lived in Hull for about four years and than moved to Sioux Center where they continued to live until the time of his passing.

Mr. Douma is survived by three brothers and four sisters, John of Hull; Hattie, Mrs. Otto De Jong of Orange City; Jay of Le Mars; Sena, Mrs. Luke Brunsting of Hull; Sara, Mrs. Case Heyman of Hull; Tracy Douma of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and Oscar of Hull. One brother, Neal, preceded him in death in 1934.

The unexpected passing of Mr. Douma is mourned by a host of relatives and friends.
