Charley Tweedy was born February 2, 1859, at Guttenburg, Clayton county, Iowa. When he was a boy about four years of age he was adopted by John and Sarah Tweedy. They raised him until he was a young man. In the spring of 1888 he came out to Sioux county and worked around as a common laborer. In the year 1891 he went back to Clayton county again. In 1892 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Malinda Frazer and to this union one son, Leonard, was born, who survives him. Mr. Tweedy farmed for a few years in Wisconsin and then move out to Sioux County again and farmed for some years east of Ireton. In the year 1910 he quit farming and moved to town. His wife died suddenly in 1923 while visiting one of her daughters at Cass Lake, Minnesota.

Mr. Tweedy’s health seemed to fail during the last few years of his life. A year ago he went to Norfolk, Nebraska, to live with his son Leonard and it was there that the end came.

Funeral services were held at the Dudley Ashley home at 2 o’clock this afternoon, Rev. William P. Webb, pastor of the Ireton M.E. Church, officiating. Interment was made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
