Services for Harry Van Nimwegen, 85, of Jackson, Minnesota, formerly of Trimont and Minneapolis, were held Saturday, February 17 at the Kramer Family Funeral Chapel in Trimont. Burial of the ashes were in Cedar Lutheran Cemetery in rural Trimont.

Mr. Van Nimwegen died Tuesday, February 13 at the Good Samaritan Center in Jackson.

Harry Van Nimwegen was born October 11, 1904 to John and Martha (Sorgdrager) Van Nimwegen at Alton. He attended school in Alton and graduated in 1914. He then attended teachers’ college and taught at various country schools before teaching in junior high school.

Following his teaching career, he became a hotel clerk at the Warrior Hotel in Sioux City and also at the Radisson, Nicollet and Hastings Hotels in Minneapolis. He then was employed as a bookkeeper at the S.S. White Dental Supply Company in Minneapolis until his retirement.

In February of 1987 he moved to Friendship Village in Fairmont until he was admitted to the Trimont Nursing Home in May of 1988. He had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center of Jackson since September of 1989.

Survivors include three nieces, Mrs. Ruth Kramer of Trimont, Mrs. DeWayne (June) Johnson of Hayfield and Mrs. Don (Edna) Nichoalds of Kansas City, Missouri; one nephew, John Van Nimwegen of Arizona; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Ina Van Nimwegen of Grinnell and several other nephews and niece.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
