Mrs. Gerrit Van Nimwegen passed away at the Sacred Heart Hospital, LeMars, on Thursday, March 24, 1948, after a lingering illness. Cecile Deloras Roeder was born at Rockford, Illinois, on July 26, 1900. She moved with her family to LeMars in 1910. Here she lived until her marriage to Gerrit Van Nimwegen on September 30, 1926 when she moved here with her husband who then was operating an undertaking establishment in Rock Valley. She lived in Rock Valley where she operated a café here for many years and made a host of friends.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Gerrit Van Nimwegen, three sisters (Laura) Mrs. Paul Helm of Rochester, Minnesota; (Beulah) Mrs. Gus Ebrecht, Sioux City, Dorothy) Mrs. Chaput of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and one brother Walter Roeder of San Diego, California.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church on Monday afternoon with Rev. M. L. Jones officiating.

Mrs. Edward De Haas and Mrs. M.L. Jones sang “The Ivory Palace” and Sometime We’ll Understand”. Miss Majority Jones was the organist.

Burial services and interment were made in Valley View cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry Bauman, John Mulder, Robert Buckley, Clarence Schemmer, Paul Frembgen and Gerrit Van Maanen.
