MARY DOHERTY

Mary Agnes Doherty, 90, of Rock Valley died Thursday, January 17, in a Rock Valley after a sudden illness.

Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Valley. The Rev. William Wingert will officate. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Alvord. The rosary was recited by the church Guild at 3 p.m. Friday and at 7:30 p.m. by the parish in the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mrs. Doherty, the former Mary Agnes Spain, was born March 25, 1894, rural Alvord. She taught rural school near Alvord. She married Raymond Lester Doherty April 17, 1918, in Alvord. They lived in Rock Valley and for 15 years in Sioux Falls, S.D. They retired to Rock Valley in 1970. He died Oct. 31, 1981. She moved into Valley Manor Nursing Home in July 1983.

Mrs. Doherty was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include two sons, John of Brandon, S.D. and Raymond of Peterson; two daughters, Mrs. Hein (Irene) Kosters of Rock Valley and Mrs. Lee (Fran) Gacke of Sioux Falls; 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
