Simon Tutje, 95, Des Moines, formerly of Worthington, Minnesota, died Thursday, January 24, at Calvin Community Care Center in Des Moines.

Services were Monday, January 28, at Walton, Roste & Vogel Funeral Home in Sibley, with the Rev. Rodney Snyder officiating. Burial was at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Simon Tutje, son of Evert Sr. and Etta (Janssen) Tutje, was born November 11, 1906, in Matlock. He married Viola J. Johnson. She preceded him in death. They farmed for many years in the Sibley and Bigelow, Minnesota, areas before purchasing their farm near Fulda, Minnesota. After retiring they settled in Worthington, Minnesota. He later lived near Pound, Wisconsin, before moving to Des Moines, where he resided for the past three and one-half years.

He was a former member of the Assembly of God Church in Worthington, Minnesota, and currently was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Des Moines.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon and Jim Minton of Des Moines, and Ilona and David Rakowski of Pound, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Loretta Wienrank of Sanborn, and Agnes Dreesen of Port Orchard, Washington.
