Died: April 25, 1960

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, April 29th, from the home and at the First Christian Reformed church in Hull for Mr. Henry Vande Griend. Six grandsons served as pallbearers.

Henry Vande Griend was born June 11, 1881, at South Holland, Ill. He passed away on Monday, April 25, 1960, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 14 days.

He was united in marriage to Johanna Vander Stoep on February 19, 1902 at Leota Minn.

To this union seven children were born: namely, Jake, of Boyden; Katy, Mrs. Henry Raman; Nellie, Mrs. John Velgersdyk; Floyd, all of Hull; Carrie, Mrs. Henry Dee Roo of Brooten, Minn., Andrew of Sheldon and Henry James of Hull.

He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away May 1, 1950; one grandchild; two great grandchildren; three brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his seven children, 32 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren; also two brothers; Ben of Orange City and Marinus of Sioux Center; and two sisters; Marie, Mrs. John Kroeze and Elizabeth, Mrs. Harry Kroeze, both of Orange City.

He was a faithful member of the Middleburg Christian Reformed Church for 60 years. There he served as elder for many years, and also was active in Sunday School work, serving as a teacher. He then joined the Hull Christian Reformed Church, where he was an attendant at the time of his death.

He was active in civic affairs, serving as a member of the board of directors of the Cooperative Creamery Association at Hull for 40 years, after which he resigned. He also served in several other cooperative capacities.
