Jacob Vander Heiden, 95, formerly of Boyden, died Monday, August 17, at his nursing home residence, Lyon Manor Care Center in Rock Rapids.

Services were at 10am Thursday, August 20, at First Reformed Church of Boyden with the Rev. Gary Van Heukelom officiating. Burial was in the Sheridan Township Cemetery at Boyden.

Vander Heiden was born March 1, 1897, in The Netherlands, son of Jakob and Marigje Elizabeth Vander Heiden. He grew up and attended school in his homeland, then came to the United States in 1920. He married Wilhelmina Brink November 24, 1933, in Boyden. He was a Watkins and McNess dealer in the Boyden area until he retired in 1968, when they moved to the Homestead in Sioux Center. His wife died in 1979. He then moved to Sibley Rest Home, where he lived until 1986, when he moved to Lyon Manor.

He was a member of First Reformed Church in Sibley.

Survivors include a daughter, Wilma Heida; a daughter-in-law, Hendrene Kalsbeck; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
