Gertrude Ann "Gert" Solsma, 60, of Hospers died Tuesday, March 21, at a Sioux City hospital of injuries suffered in a automobile accident.

Services were 10:30am Saturday at First Reformed Church in Hospers with the Rev. Milton Sikkema officiating. Burial was in Hospers Cemetery.

Mrs. Solsma was born May 11, 1939, in Home Acres, Michigan, the daughter of Joe and Nellie (Tigchelaar) Vander Muelen. She married Richard Solsma on February 6, 1958, in Bellflower, California. They moved to Hospers, where she worked at Siouxland Press and later at K-Products in Orange City.

She belonged to First Reformed Church, where she served as church secretary for 20 years. She enjoyed crafts and collected dolls.

Survivors include her husband; her parents of Rogue River, Oregon; a daughter and her husband, Vicki and Mark Lyftogt of Exeter, California; two sons, Donny of Sioux Falls and Gary and his wife Theresa of Orange City; three brothers and their wives, Ray and Donna of Buena Park, California, Dick and Judy of Colonial Heights, Virginia, and Ron and Melinda of Gold Hill, Oregon; and five grandchildren.
