Fred C. Dierks, 92, of Rock Valley died Wednesday in a hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Peace Lutheran Church, rural Sioux Center. The Rev. Ron Nelson officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Dierks was born March 20, 1893 in Gladbrook, Iowa. He was raised and educated there and worked on a farm. He served in the Army from 1917 to 1919 in France. He returned to Sioux County and married Alvina Tank August 25, 1920, at rural Sioux Center. They farmed near Rock Valley until retiring in 1949. In September 1979 they moved to Rock Valley.

Mr. Dierks was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he served as secretary for many years. He was a member of the American Legion and the Lutheran Brotherhood.

Survivors include his wife; two daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Esther) Mouw of Sioux Center and Mrs. Richard (Evelyn) Vander Velde of Rock Valley; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
