Mrs. John Veencamp, formerly of Sioux Center and for the last thirteen years a Sheldon resident, passed away at the Sheldon Hospital on Monday evening, Jan. 19. She had been ailing for some time due to a stomach ailment and had submitted to an operation from which she failed to rally.

Mrs. Veencamp, nee Kate Lagendijk, was born at Alton Oct. 2, in the year 1871. On Jan. 20, 1892 she was united in marriage to Mr. John Veencamp. To this union 3 children were born, Mrs. Dick Van Aller of Rock Valley, Paul Veencamp of Sioux Center, and Mrs. Neal Brower who had preceded her mother in death, passing away on Dec. 7, 1934 at the age of 34 years. The two children and the father now survive as also nine grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Veencamp were to observe their 56th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, when she passed away Monday evening. She had reached the age of 76 years.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 22 at Sheldon Holland Home. Burial will take place at the Sioux Center cemetery.
