Carl M. Tunnell Passed away at his home last thursday morning.

Death claimed Alcester's oldest resident, Carl M. Tunnell, 92, at his home last Thursday morning. Mr. Tunnell was able to be about his home until about two weeks prior to his death when he was injured in a fall. Funeral services were held at the Nathanael Lutheran church at Alcester at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon.

Carl M. Tunnell was born in Sweden Sept. 28, 1845, and he came to America with his wife in 1869, shortly after their marriage. They settled at Lawrence, Kansas, where Mr. Tunnell worked in railroad shops for five years. In 1874 he came to Union county and Mr. Tunnell took a homestead three and a half miles northeast of Alcester. He lived on a farm for 35 years when he and his wife moved to Alcester. Since the death of his wife in 1922, Mr. Tunnell and his son, Charlie have lived together. He was a charter member of the Nathanael Lutheran church which was organized in 1885 and was a deacon for a long period of time. He is survived by seven children, Mrs. August Broline, Charlie, Emil and Joseph Tunnell, Mrs. Herman Numsen and Mrs. Ed S. Johnson, all of Alcester, and Oscar Tunnell of Inwood. He leaves 20 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
